MILLSBORO, DE \u2013<\/strong> For the 13th<\/sup> consecutive season, American Racer Tires, Lias Tire Company, Sunoco Race Fuels, and Insinger Performance have teamed up to \u201cwin with weekly racers\u201d in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The American Racer Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels \u2013 launched in 2010 to reward drivers competing at American Racer home tracks \u2013 gets its 2022 championship battles for Modifieds and Crate 602 Sportsman underway this weekend. Points begin tabulating on Friday, April 15 and will run through Labor Day, Sept. 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thirteen tracks again comprise the \u201922 American Racer Cup with Modified and Sportsman competitors battling for $51,450 in point fund cash plus hundreds of tire certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Modified program got underway in 2010 with Keystone State driver Duane Howard<\/strong> taking the inaugural championship. Howard went on to win four American Racer Cup crowns (\u201910, \u201912, \u201913 and \u201914).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matt Sheppard<\/strong> is a three-time American Racer Cup champion, taking the titles in \u201917, \u201918 and \u201919.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stewart Friesen<\/strong> has topped the charts for the past two years. Friesen is the \u201920 and \u201921 champion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Single-year American Racer Cup Modified champions include Billy Pauch Sr.<\/strong> (\u201911), Rick Laubach<\/strong> (\u201915) and Andy Bachetti<\/strong> (\u201916).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The American Racer Cup Sportsman program launched in \u201913 with Delaware\u2019s Jordan Watson<\/strong> etching his name in history as the first champion. There have been no repeat Sportsman champions since: Jared Umbenhauer<\/strong> (\u201914), Alan Barker<\/strong> (\u201915), Andrew Smith<\/strong> (\u201916), Matt Stangle<\/strong> (\u201917), Alex Yankowski<\/strong> (\u201918), Doug Hendricks<\/strong> (\u201919), Brian Hirthler<\/strong> (\u201920) and Matt Janczuk<\/strong> (\u201921).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration for the \u201922 Cup ends on May 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
