MILLSBORO, DE \u2013 <\/strong>One month remains.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only four weeks of racing remain in the 2022 American Racer Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ringoes, N.J.\u2019s Ryan Godown <\/strong>has already locked himself into the maximum number of points attainable by a driver during the American Racer Cup Season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A driver\u2019s 10 best finishes at their American Racer home track from Friday, April 15 to Monday, Sept. 5 will be tallied. Bonus points are awarded to competitors at year-end, based upon the average number of cars starting feature events at their participating speedway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accumulated points based on finishes will be added with the car count bonuses to determine a final point total at season\u2019s end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Godown \u2013 having won a speedway record seven consecutive races at his registered home track of Bridgeport (N.J.) Motorsports Park \u2013 now has 10 wins to his credit this season at his home track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the bonus points added, Godown has reached the maximum 700 points. If his home track car count average remains above 24 cars, Godown will be guaranteed at least a share of the American Racer Cup championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two other drivers appear in play for the 700-point maximum with four weeks left to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Craig Von Dohren<\/strong>, of Oley, Pa., currently has nine wins to his credit at Pa.\u2019s Grandview Speedway, his registered home track. With one more win, Von Dohren will reach the 600-points along with his home track meeting the requirements for the 100 bonus points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Von Dohren currently sits second in the standings at 690 total points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Savannah, N.Y.\u2019s Matt Sheppard<\/strong> also has nine wins this season at his registered home track of Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sheppard however will need a boost in the Utica-Rome Speedway car count for the last month to receive the 100-point boost along with a tenth win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Utica-Rome\u2019s car count average sits at 23.73, just shy of the 24-car average needed for the 100-point bonus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sheppard sits at 685 points, currently third in the American Racer Cup standings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orefield, Pa.\u2019s Brett Kressley<\/strong>, another Grandview Speedway registered driver, sits fourth in the standings at 648 points and Fonda (N.Y.) Speedway driver Rocky Warner <\/strong>rounds out the top five at 626 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registered Modified drivers are competing for a $10,000-plus championship at the end of the American Racer Cup season. The cash point fund for the Modifieds totals $36,000 \u2013 distributed to the top-15 in American Racer Cup points \u2013 in addition to tire certificate giveaways throughout the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is an additional $5,700 in regional money available to Modified competitors thanks to Insinger Performance of Dushore, Pa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the Sportsman side of the American Racer Cup, Utica-Rome Speedway\u2019s Matt Janczuk<\/strong> has rattled off seven consecutive wins, bringing his season total to eight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Janczuk \u2013 the defending American Racer Cup champion \u2013 has 690 points, leading Fonda Speedway\u2019s Chad Edwards <\/strong>by 10 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edwards has six wins at the \u2018Track of Champions\u2019 to go along with four runner-up finishes. Fonda Speedway registered drivers however only have one more race to go before the Sept. 4 deadline for the American Racer Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Payton Talbot <\/strong>has enjoyed a career year at both Fonda and Utica-Rome Speedway\u2019s. Talbot \u2013 who is registered at both tracks \u2013 occupies third place with his work at Fonda Speedway (660 points), and fourth place with his success at Utica-Rome Speedway (658 points).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brandon Edgar <\/strong>\u2013 a driver at Pa.\u2019s Big Diamond Speedway \u2013 rounds out the top five at 650-points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A $6,750 point fund is given out to the Sportsman at the end of the American Racer Cup season. With free product giveaways and Insinger Performance regional cash included, more than $10,000 is handed out to Sportsman racers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
