MILLSBORO, DE – Down to the wire.

The American Racer Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels is down to the home stretch.

The ’23 American Racer Cup season concludes on Labor Day Weekend with the final day for races to count towards the cup being Monday, Sept. 4.

Currently, Savannah, N.Y.’s Matt Sheppard sits atop the American Racer Cup Modified standings with 670 points at his Friday night home, Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y.

Sheppard holds a 43-point lead over Grandview (Bechtelsville, Pa.) Speedway’s Brett Kressley (627).

A pair of Woodhull (N.Y.) Raceway drivers sit in third and fourth as Ajay Potrzebowski II (625) and Joe Dgien (623) sit very much in the mix. Defending champion Ryan Godown (621) rounds out the top five representing New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway.

The top 15 in the American Racer Cup Standings share in the $36,000 purse, with $10,000 reserved for the champion.

Sitting sixth through 15th, respectively, are Brett Tonkin (619) representing Afton (N.Y.) Motorsports Park; Brett Kressley (617) representing Big Diamond Speedway in Minersville, Pa.; Jeff Strunk (609), Craig Von Dohren (601), and Doug Manmiller (589) all of Grandview Speedway sit eighth through 10th; Duane Howard (582) of Big Diamond Speedway; Danny Johnson (579), the only driver from Dundee, N.Y.’s Outlaw Speedway in the top 15; New Egypt Speedway’s Billy Pauch Jr. (571); while another New Egypt Speedway driver, Louden Reimert and Fonda (N.Y.) Speedway’s Alex Yankowski are tied for the 14th position at 566 points.

The American Racer Cup collects each racer’s 10 best finishes at their registered home track combined with a year-end starting field bonus to calculate a driver’s total points.

In the event of a tie for the title, the established tiebreaker is a driver’s number of wins at the participating speedway between Friday, April 14 and Monday, September 4.

In sportsman competition, Payton Talbot (656) – with his great season at Fonda Speedway – holds a slim 8-point advantage over his Friday night counterpart, Utica-Rome Speedway’s Matt Janczuk (648).

Joe Toth (638) sits third in the standings with his dominant season at New Egypt Speedway. Kenny Peoples Jr. (608) represents Woodhull Raceway in fourth in the standings and Logan Watt (605) rounds out the top five representing Grandview Speedway.
